To qualify for Homestead Exemption...

You must occupy the property on January 1st of the year you are applying for. The application window for the current tax year is January 1st through March 1st of that year. You may pre-apply at any time for the next tax year, and you are not required to re-apply each year.

The following items are required by the Collier County Property Appraiser at the time of application to qualify for the exemption:

Copy of the Deed to the property
Florida Driver's License for each owner DMV (239) 417-6385
Florida automobile registration (239) 774-8177
Voter's registration (if registered voters) (239) 774-8450
Social Security Number for each owner 800-772-1213

*If the property is in a Trust, a copy of the Trust will also be required.

To apply for a widow or widower tax exemption you must have a copy of the spouse's death certificate. (This is an additional $500.00 exemption.)
